Special Announcement: Church and Society Committee
We are planning to form a discussion group based on resolution 1, A Call For Conversations About Economic Justice In International Loans and Trade, adopted at the June 2009 Annual Conference. The Study would be comprised of four one hour session meeting on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. from November 9th through November 30th.
The main focus of the discussion would be the effects of U.S. and international loan and trade policies on Haiti, the poorest nation in the western hemisphere, and on the large scale migration of documented and undocumented workers for Mexico into the United States in search of employment.
The problems facing these two countries have had a large impact on the U.S. economy and have become major political and policy issues in the United States. The hope is that the discussion sessions might help us gain some insight and understanding of these complex issues.
If you are interested in participating please put a note in the Sunday collection plate or contact Judy Vaughan.
