For over 100 years, this firm and its predecessors have provided general legal services to businessmen and individuals alike and prides itself on close client relationships and quality legal services at affordable rates. Its clients include major corporations with operations in the Southwest Virginia region as well as small businessmen, farmers, and individuals. The five members of the firm are active in the community as well as in many service organizations.
The practice has an emphasis in mineral law and real estate, corporate issues, contracts, domestic relations and family law, administrative law, education law, personal injury, wills and estates, and negotiations. Firm members practice in the courts of all Virginia counties surrounding Tazewell as well as federal courts.
The firm has its roots in the turn of the century firm of Greever and Gillespie. In 1934, John W. Gillespie joined the practice with his cousin. When that firm dissolved, Mr. Gillespie had a solo practice until 1965 when Jack P. Chambers and Mr. Gillespie started the firm of Gillespie and Chambers. Mr. Gillespie retired in 1975 but enjoyed a close relationship with the the firm until his death in 1996. Mr. Chambers retired in 1983 and maintains a retired and inactive status with the firm. In 1992 the firm changed its name to Altizer, Walk & White and in 2005 became a Professional Limited Liability Company (PLLC).
The offices of Altizer, Walk and White PLLC are located on Main Street between Lemon's Jewelers and National Bank approximately one block east of the Tazewell County Courthouse.
