About Sleep On It
Sleep On It came to Harrisonburg as the Waterbed Shack in 1988, as a sister store to the Waterbed Shack of Waynesboro. That store first opening its doors in 1980 and became the Valley's first waterbed store. Starting solely as a waterbed store located on Burgess Rd., the Waterbed Shack enjoyed great success, eventually moving to a bigger store at its current location on Evelyn Byrd Avenue in 1991. As regular mattresses, futons, and specialty products such as air beds, Swedish foam, and electrical adjustable beds became popular sellers for the company, it's name was change to Sleep On It in 1996 as a way to better reflect the fact that the store was about much more that just waterbeds.
Because of its diverse range of products, Sleep On It has become the largest bedding store between Roanoke and Winchester, serving western central Virginia and much of eastern West Virginia. As Harrisonburg's only specialty bedding store, customers can look at any bedding type on the market: innerspring, latex foam, visco elastic (Swedish) foam, air, water (softside and wooden frame), electrical adjustable, and futons. Sleep On It also sells bedroom furniture from Webb, Blackhawk, and Oakwood; Oakwood specializes in handmade, high quality furniture with hand-mastered carvings and other premium features. Along with hard to find higher thread count bed linens designed to properly fit today's thicker mattresses, Sleep On It has a good selection of youth beds and furniture. Such diversity makes Sleep On It a one-stop shop for everyone's bedding needs.
Because Sleep On It is a locally owned, family operated business, customers can enjoy a friendly, comfortable atmosphere free of the high pressure and slick dealings of the local chain stores. Because Sleep On It is a specialty bedding store, its sleep consultants can offer a greater knowledge of products and better address important issues that furniture stores cannot master because of their broad product base.
