Charlottesville is host to two great medical facilities, the University of Virginia Hospital and the Martha Jefferson Hospital. For those more interested in shopping, Charlottesville offers specialty shops and restaurants in the quaint Downtown Mall with its brick walkways and southern charm. Central Virginia is also home to more than twenty recreational parks enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. If strolling through parks seems a bit tame, one can always enjoy riding in a hot air balloon, wine tasting at a local winery, playing a round of golf at one of the area public courses or private clubs, or skiing, hiking or backpacking in the surrounding mountains.
