New VDOT call center housed in Roanoke County
A statewide customer service center has opened near Salem for receiving reports of road obstructions such as potholes, dead animals and tree limbs, maintenance requests and other business handled by the Virginia Department of Transportation. The public is being urged to make note of a toll-free telephone number that VDOT will answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Efficiency is the buzzword here. The facility, which has been ramping up for six months, opened to pick up the slack after staff cuts and the closure of scores of field offices forced by recession-related budget cuts.
County Designates Furlough Days for FY 2010-2011
As part of the adoption of the FY 2010-2011 budget, the Warren County Board of Supervisors approved the implementation of six mandatory furlough days for all full-time County employees. This was done in response to shrinking revenues and reductions in state appropriations.
