In the opening chapter of his 1945 publication "Return to Life through Contrology", Joseph Hubertus Pilates summarizes Physical Fitness as “the attainment and maintenance of a uniformly developed body with sound mind fully capable of naturally, easily, and satisfactorily performing our many varied tasks with spontaneous zest and pleasure”.
Church Street Pilates is dedicated to Joseph Pilate’s vision of a sound body and mind and a comprehensive and systematic method by which to accomplish that “attainment”. We teach the original and historical contrology syllabus as set down by Joseph Pilates and we emphasize the historical intent of each exercise within the syllabus. We are committed to providing only the highest quality instruction in a truly client-centered environment to ensure that our students benefit fully from the Pilates method of Body Conditioning.
