Canine influenza virus has spread recently to the Northern Virginia area. This is a highy contagious respiratory infection in dogs. We are strongly recommending two vaccines at 2-4 weeks apart, then one vaccine annually thereafter, if your dog is at risk. Risk factors for influenza are the same as for kennel cough. (Bordetella) It is transmitted , as with other respiratory pathogens, by direct contact with infected dogs and by aerosols generated by coughing and sneezing. McLean Animal hospital is requiring this vaccine for all canines admitted into our facility. Your pet's health is important to us. Please call our office for an appointment. 703 356-5000
