We take great pride in the fact that our clients have chosen us as one of the Washington D.C. area's top veterinary facilities. There are several clinics that share this honor with us, but we have consistently been chosen since 1995. This is a distinction that we cherish and we thank our clients for helping us achieve this recognition.
About the Clinic
The Burke Veterinary Clinic opened its doors in 1979, just as the Burke community was beginning to develop. The practice provides comprehensive medical care for dogs and cats. We stress preventive medicine, but are fully prepared to diagnose and treat all manner of illnesses.
The practice provides complete veterinary care at no charge for service dogs including dogs from the Guiding Eyes for the Blind, and Canine Companions for Independence. The doctors work closely with local wildlife rehabilitators, seeing orphaned and injured squirrels on a regular basis. The staff also provides pro bono orthopedic surgery for adoptable animals from several of the area's animal shelters. The clinic participates in community service projects including volunteering for the Route One Corridor Housing Project, and the Lorton Community Action Center.

At the Burke Veterinary Clinic our mission is to treat each patient as if it were our own by providing the best medical care possible. We strive to treat our clients the way we would like to be treated: with courtesy, compassion, competence and respect.
Facility, Procedures, and Emergencies
The Burke Veterinary Clinic is a fully equipped full service veterinary clinic. We have the training and experience to offer a wide variety of medical and surgical procedures. As general practitioners, Drs. Deutsch and Alt available to manage the various medical issues your pet may experience. This includes diseases of the heart, lungs, eyes, nervous system, skin, digestive tract, etc. The doctors are able to provide quick answers for most medical conditions by conducting laboratory tests in-house including blood, urine and fecal analysis, glaucoma testing, blood pressure, X-ray radiography, electrocardiography, blood clotting parameters and much more. We are able to offer most soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries and the doctors are on call after hours to discuss any emergency that may arise with your pet. We also have a strong relationship with the local emergency and specialty referral centers in the area to be sure your pet gets the most up-to-date and effective treatment available.
