Centerstage Academy opened in September of 1995 as a studio of piano instruction and performing arts opportunities. It has expanded since then to include private and group instruction in piano, violin, flute, trumpet, cornet, tuba, trombone, french horn, saxophone, clarinet, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, drums & percussion, voice, theory, composition, songwriting, preschool music, and theatrical productions. Our music theater department has grown to include classes for all ages, skill levels, and topics such as acting classes, vocal technique, full-length dramas, music theatre productions, and more! Our Young Performers program is a unique experience for children ages 3 to 6 providing an opportunity to explore music, singing, instruments, drama, choreography and mini-musical productions.
Our Mission: Believing that everyone has an innate potential for artistic endeavors, the goals of this studio are to develop a passion for music and the performing arts, to guide and develop personal skill and creativity, to encourage an appreciation of the history and future of the arts, and to inspire the continued pursuit of artistic expression.
Centerstage Academy is dedicated to helping children, teens, and adults discover a lifetime of joy in music and the arts by providing excellent education in a relaxed atmosphere. So let us help YOU discover that joy!

The faculty at Centerstage Academy strives to be innovative and unique, bringing the pursuit of the arts into the 21st century. With a solid foundation on the traditional, tried-and-true methods, and an open mind for the contemporary, creative techniques, instructors work hard to bring old and new together. The result is a wonderful blending of classic and contemporary, traditional and technological, conventional and original. This unique blend is seen in the pieces students are given to learn, the style and format of the recitals and performances, and the variety of workshops and classes offered. But the blend is manifested most in the students themselves, with individual interests and modern-day needs, who become well-rounded, skillful musicians and passionate artists!
REBECCA LOWE, DirectorRebecca Lowe graduated with a music and sociology degree from the College of William & Mary. She began teaching piano during college, which blossomed into a full-time passion after graduation. Her home studio expanded to include ensemble performances and music theater productions. As her teaching schedule soon filled to overflowing, and through her experience as church pianist and music director, she saw a need in the community for a school of the performing arts. Centerstage Academy was soon founded, and Rebecca has enjoyed providing a positive environment for passionate students and exceptional teachers. What could be more rewarding than watching the growth and progress of new students, seeing the positive impact music has on their lives, and knowing that generations to come will benefit from their musical study! Rebecca shares a vision with many of those involved with the Academy: to continue to make Centerstage the leading performing arts school on the Peninsula with an extensive variety and exceptional quality of instruction; and to bring its teachers and students together into a large facility which will include individual teaching studios, group classrooms, and a performance hall for recitals, concerts and theatrical productions.
