Four har-tru and two all-weather courts are conveniently located near the Casino Restaurant. Lessons and court times are by appointment, and equipment and sportswear are available in the Casino Pro Shop.

Join us at our Mountain Lodge for a fun and fast-paced game of paintball on either the wooded course or our wide-open speedball course.

Reserved exclusively for hotel guests, the bowling alley is located adjacent to the Indoor Pool, with eight lanes available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Thomas Jefferson, author of our Declaration of Independence, & James Madison, the father of the Constitution, visit.

Thomas Edison (a regular guest) helped design our first electric power plant.

In an effort to make the valley more accessible, a branch line of the C&O Railroad opened from Covington, VA, and stayed in continuous use until 1970.

The first of The Homesteads golf links six holes in all are laid out. Here lies the site of the legendary First Tee, the countrys oldest tee in continuous use.

The first golf links, referred to as The Old Course, is expanded to nine holes.

President William McKinley tees off at the First Tee, officially making him the first sitting President to play golf.

A fire which started in the pastry shop burned the entire resort. Within a year, (March 1902) the resort was rebuilt.

The Old Course is expanded to a full 18 holes and The Homestead proudly advertises the course in local magazines and newspapers.

Donald Ross one of the golf's most renowned course architects, completed his work on the Old Course.

President Woodrow Wilson and his second wife, Edith Bolling Galt Wilson, celebrated their honeymoon here this December.

The Cascades Course, Americas premier mountain course, is built to the designs of William S. Flynn.

Calvin Coolidge (Silent Cal) visits for relaxation. He walks trails, golf's on the Old Course and fishes the Cascades stream.

The Homestead hosts its first major tournament The United States Golf Association Womens Amateur Championship.

Before his presidency, then U.S. Senator Harry S. Truman visited The Homestead where he was seen taking a brisk walk along the Old Course each morning.

Richard M. Nixon visited The Homestead during his tenure in the U.S. Senate, and then again in 1960 when he was Vice President.

The Lower Cascades Course is built to the designs of the famed Robert Trent Jones.

The American team wins the Curtis Cup on the Cascades Course on July 30th of this year.

The United States Golf Associations Womens Open is hosted on July 2nd of this year.

Gerald R. Ford first visited The Homestead as a congressman, and again as Vice President.
