Welcome to outdoorimpressions.com. A collection of colored pencil and graphite illustrations by artist Tye Krueger, whose work is dedicated to those that love to fish and be outside.

Im probably best known for my direct side profile work of fresh and saltwater game fish and am fortunate to have pieces in private collections all over the United States. I invite you to visit one my artwork gallery links above to see my entire collection of side profile work.

Depicting fish in their natural habitat, truly gives me the opportunity to impart some personality to a piece. Whether its a large mature solitary Brown Trout (like the one shown below), or a more communal scene depicting a school of fish... a habitat piece is no longer from the anglers point of view, but more so from that of the fish, its prey, and its surroundings.

Whether illustrating my beloved fish or some other fauna, every project begins with research of my subject and a preliminary concept sketch. Sketching and drawing is when Im most creative and relaxed - immersing myself in an idea before committing to the details of what will bring a color piece to life. Occasionally a sketch that was originally intended to do nothing but flesh out a concept, will inspire me... and I will take the drawing to completion with the intention of framing and exhibiting it as a finished piece. Although I have many unfinished sketches, I often find that finished graphites offer the eye the same emotion and feeling over colored pencil, that black and white photography has over color images.
