A parish of the Orthodox Church in America | Orthodoxy in America
St. Cyprian of Carthage Orthodox Church, located in the greater metropolitan area of Richmond, Virginia, is a mission of the Diocese of the South, a territorial unit of the Orthodox Church in America, which is the local autocephalous Orthodox Church of this continent, belonging to the world-wide federation of Orthodox Churches.
Our purpose is to gather together for worship and adoration of the Holy Trinity through the services of our liturgical tradition. We also seek to grow in spiritual maturity through the study of Holy Scripture, as well as through instruction in the faith that was received by the disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ and handed down from one generation to another until our own (Holy Tradition). By so doing, we seek to offer Orthodox Christianity to Central Virginia in the English language.
We began to gather in our newly constructed temple in August 2008 and continue to work on interior features before a grealy anticipated consecration of the Altar and building.
We hope you find our website helpful and that you will come to visit and worship with us sometime soon.
The bi-monthly magazine of the Orthodox Church in America, The Orthodox Church, is available to read and download in .pdf format here.
Saint Moses the Ethiopian (by the hand of Maria Struve)
While attending a Vesers service at St. Cyprian of Carthage, now Fr. Moses Berry saw an image of a person who "was a flower in God's garden that looked like him." Follow the links below to the website introducing a documentary film on the life of Fr. Moses Berry. If you are able, please support the funding of this documentary.
If you are not a Christian, but are curious and just want to learn more about the faith, come and see.
If you are hungering for genuine worship, an ancient offering of adoration and not a lecture or emotional pep-rally, come and see.
If you are a Christian who is tired of following this new religious leader or that new contemporary Christian emphasis, come and see the living tradition that has been from the beginning.
If you are an Orthodox Christian and need to unite yourself to a community with which to walk the narrow path, come and see.
We will welcome you in love and with open arms.
