Raft Hotline conducting raffle for "Hokie" quilt Virginia Tech head football coach Frank Beamer adds his autograph to the handmade "Hokie" quilt that is currently being raffled off by the Raft Crisis Hotline. The quilt, made especially for Raft by the local "Dizzy Quilters" group, is an annual fundraiser for the Hotline - a program of New River Valley Community Services. The drawing for the quilt will be held on Saturday, November 27 during Tech's annual showdown with the Virginia Cavaliers. NRVCS announces holiday closings New River Valley Community Services (NRVCS) offices and clinics will be closed on the following dates for holiday observances:
- Thursday, November 11 (Veterans Day)
- Thursday, November 25 and Friday, November 25 (Thanksgiving)
- Friday, December 24 and Monday, December 27 (Christmas)
- Friday, December 31 (New Year's)
Please note that these closings will not affect 24-hour/residential programs. Normal hours of operation at all clinics will resume the business day immediately following each announced closure.
New support group for families of local veterans
Local families of veterans are invited to participate in a new family support group being offered through the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program. NRVCS assists Pulaski County Schools with grant to address needs of middle school students Pulaski County Public Schools has been awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Education in the amount of $266,159 to address the mental health needs of students at both Dublin and Pulaski Middle Schools.
