Parkway Veterinary Clinic has been serving clients and their pets from Burke and surrounding areas since 1980. We are a modern, well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary clinic that offers comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care.
Our new facility boasts 4000 square feet of space dedicated to the most current advancements in the care of our patients. There are four examination rooms, an extensive pharmacy and complete laboratory, a radiology suite and automatic film processing, and a double surgical suite with three anesthesia machines, an oscilloscope, a pulse oximeter, a ventilator, a suction unit, microcautery, and 10-lead ECG capability. The treatment room houses our state-of-the-art ICU unit which maintains oxygen, humidity, and ambient temperature for our most critical patients. Patients who are more stable are managed either in the treatment area or in the adjacent isolation ward should they be considered contagious. The treatment room also has a designated and specially designed dental area where we perform complete dental cleaning, polishing, and extractions, if necessary. We are also proud to offer dental x-rays for the accurate assessment of root health.
Should an animal require referral or special diagnostics, we are pleased to work with the many board-certified specialists in our area.
Preventative medicine is the cornerstone of our practice as we strive to maintain healthy pets. Annual physical and dental exams, vaccinations, heartworm testing, fecal exams, and control of external parasites (fleas and ticks) are recommended. We also provide nutritional guidance, behavioral advice, and specific observations tailored to your pets individual needs.
Young puppy or kitten visits may require some additional time as we strive to answer all of your questions and prepare you for issues that may lie ahead. Geriatric patients have special needs and are encouraged to visit semi-annually for a more extensive workup including a screening ECG, bloodwork, urinalysis, and x-rays, as indicated. The goal is to detect and treat illness as soon as possible and to be aware of the significance of changes as they inevitably occur. We want to offer sound advice, optimal veterinary care, and client education that will allow you to enjoy your companion for a maximum number of years.
Doctors hours are by appointment only, except in acute emergencies. Advising the receptionist of all your pets needs allows us to schedule appointments that provide both the time and the service you deserve. Should you have a preference for a particular doctor, please let us know when you schedule the appointment. If unforeseen circumstances arise and you cannot be here at the scheduled time, please call ahead so this valuable time may be given to another in need. We have expanded weekday and Saturday hours for your convenience. If you prefer, you may schedule to leave your pet with us for the day for exam and treatment.
Indoor boarding is available for dogs and cats. Boarders are checked regularly to assure their well-being during their stay with us. Should a staff member become concerned about your pet, the issue will be addressed by one of our doctors. Dogs are walked outside at least four times daily. Indoor runs, as well as an outdoor "off leash" pen, are also available. Cat "condos" feature a perch for the cats to sit on and a "walk through" to a second cage.
All boarders are fed and medicated according to your specifications. Special services or medical procedures can be performed by simply arranging for these when you make the reservations. Please leave reliable contact information so that we may reach you with any questions or
Proof of current vaccinations is required for all boarders to help prevent the spread of infectious diseases. Dogs are required to be current on Rabies, Distemper-Parvo, and Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccines. Cats are required to be current on Rabies, and Distemper (upper respiratory) vaccines.
When making reservations, a $25 deposit is required to hold the request. This deposit can be used towards your bill at the time of discharge. If cancellation is necessary, a full refund will be made up to 72 hours prior to your reserved date. We tend to book quickly for holiday and summer boarding, so please call early for reservations!
All admissions and discharges will be conducted during office hours. We want to be open and forthcoming concerning all charges incurred while your pet is in our care. We are diligent to discuss fees with owners as we make recommendations, and, therefore, the pet owner assumes full financial responsibility. Approval of treatment protocols indicates an agreement not only for medical care, but also for the fees incurred as that protocol is carried out.
A deposit may be required for hospitalized patients. Full payment is due at the time of service or upon discharge from the hospital. For your convenience, we accept cash, check, VISA or MasterCard. Particular financial concerns should be discussed with your veterinarian before care is provided.
