Since 1964, Columbia Gardens Memorials has crafted monuments that reflect the achievements of those they honor. Father and son, Ned R. Thomas and Robert Thomas, graduates of the Elberton Granite Institute in Georgia and owners of Columbia Gardens Memorials, bring an awareness of the latest technology and a reverence for tradition to the art of memorial design.
Columbia Gardens is the only memorial company to employ a craftsman skilled in the almost lost art of hand-cut, V-tooled lettering. We were the first to use on-premises diamond etching for highly detailed duplication of artwork and stencil press machines for more even and consistent lettering.
Columbia Gardens Memorials is proud to have been chosen to craft memorials for Joe Louis, Matthew Henson, Charles Thornton, and Space Shuttle Challenger pilot Michael Smith and to cut the lettering for the Navy Memorial and Museum.
We are also proud to have donated memorials to the No Greater Love organization, founded in remembrance of the families of veterans of the United States Armed Forces. Monuments to those who lost their lives in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and Desert Storm, as well as a memorial to fallen journalists, are all located in Arlington National Cemetery.
