Philip J. Geib graduated from Virginia Wesleyan College in 1984 and from the University of Richmond School of Law in 1987. After graduating from the Naval Justice School in 1988, he was a Legal Assistance Attorney, special assistant U.S. attorney, Defense Counsel, and Prosecutor in the Marine Corps. He also served as Defense Counsel at the Marine Corps Bases in Okinawa and Beaufort, South Carolina. Mr. Geib served in the United States Marine Corps as a Captain and was honorably discharged. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the North Carolina State Bar. In addition, he is a member of the Virginia Beach Bar Association, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and the American Trial Lawyers Association.
As a military defender and prosecutor, Mr. Geib was responsible for all aspects of trial preparation and litigation. This experience gave him an intimate knowledge of the courtroom and the steps it takes to bring a case to trial effectively. Now a private practitioner, Mr. Geib has achieved impressive results for his clients in many publicized and important cases in Hampton Roads. He has not only obtained large monetary verdicts and settlements for his clients but has also 'broken new ground' in civil litigation procedure on behalf of his clients.
