Our business and corporate services include general business counseling on such issues as choice of entity, formation, establishment (including creation of client-specific business policies, forms and procedures), employment law planning and compliance, tax planning, real estate acquisition, land use and zoning, development, leasing and sale, intellectual property protection, local, state and federal environmental laws and regulations, banking law and bank regulatory issues, HIPAA and other federal regulatory compliance and lobbying. Spotts Fain also provides wealth management services to individuals in the areas of estate and tax planning and estate and trust administration.
Our litigation attorneys are business trial lawyers who understand the importance of efficient and effective representation and who are experienced in mediation, arbitration, litigation, in state and federal courts, and administrative and licensing hearings. We represent clients in a wide variety of commercial litigation matters including contract, construction, employment, intellectual property, securities, and shareholder disputes. We defend businesses and manage complex litigation involving toxic tort and product liability claims. Spotts Fain litigators serve as both lead counsel and local counsel in Virginia state courts and federal courts.
Our creditors' rights and insolvency section offers extensive experience in all types of insolvency and debtor/creditor law. We represent creditors in proceedings throughout the Commonwealth and beyond. We frequently represent secured creditors in foreclosing on real property and personal property. We also represent many bankruptcy trustees. Our firm is experienced in representing creditors and debt collectors against claims arising under a host of federal and state regulatory laws. A significant portion of our work involves out of court workouts and reorganizations of troubled entities.
