Since we closed our doors at the end of September, a lot has been happening. Annie & I moved into our office in the Bon Air area and, while she pursues her perfume business, I've been working to make the big change to a non-storefront bookstore. The three book clubs are meeting in the reception area we share with the other tenants on our floor, much to my delight, and email and phone sales are gathering steam, also much to my delight.
Because of a six week delay in getting phone and internet service, our webstore is not up yet, but I have recently signed on with one of our wholesalers to host our store and the installation will take place sometime in January. I'm excited about this because you'll have access to more than a million titles and I'll be able to continue to offer our four target genres as well as so much more that might interest you. Buried Under Books, my book-related blog, launched early in November. There, you'll see reviews by me and others, postings by me, guest blogs by authors and other interested folks and occasional notes about Hamilton. I'm also using the blog to maintain the lists of upcoming titles and those are updated frequently, usually several times a week. Prices are shown and you can call or there's an email link you can use to let me know when you want to order something on the list or anything else you might think of. You can come by the office to pick up your order---and I'd really love to see you---or I can mail it to you. Shipping is free if the order is over $25; otherwise, it's $2.65 for the first book and $0.50 for each additional book. You'll get 5% discount on everything and an additional 15% on new hardcovers (no more than about three months old). Every order will help keep things afloat until, hopefully, I can find a way to open a brick & mortar store again.
Oh, and we've also changed our name a bit---
Creatures 'n Crooks Bookshoppe
This shop stocks hard-boiled pros like Andrew Vachss and Richard Stark (aka Donald Westlake), who generally get short shrift at the chains.
This is our baby dragon, Morgan.
She'll take care of you while you explore these pages, but don't get too close when she starts to breathe smoke!
