Walking, running, jumping and reaching are often taken for granted. Then ailments such as arthritis and bursitis appear that make movement painful. Or an injury leaves you on the sidelines, away from the workplace or playing field. This is the time when you need the care and attention of an experienced orthopaedic physician. Daniel L. Zimet, MD, is board-certified in orthopaedics and has cared for more than 20,000 patients since 1983. Dr. Zimet holds a strong belief that listening to his patients and paying attention to details results in successful treatment.
An Experienced Doctor Who Listens to You
So often in the haste and rush of hospitals, clinics and health plan requirements, you lose your voice and the ear of your doctor. Dr. Zimet and his staff not only listen to your concerns and answer your questions, they provide you with ample patient-education materials to review at your convenience.
Orthopaedic Expertise Close to Home
Because Dr. Zimet is conveniently located opposite Warren Memorial Hospital, you do not have to commute up to an hour away to receive orthopaedic care. His patient success rate reflects the high quality of care you expect from big-city hospitals. And while many city hospitals use less experienced orthopaedic residents to treat patients, Dr. Zimet puts his decades of experience behind every treatment and procedure he performs.
A Commitment to Excellence in Patient Care
Dr. Zimet and his highly trained staff provide top-quality orthopaedic care with meticulous attention to sterilization that is unmatched. Before every surgery, Dr. Zimet and his staff take several painstaking steps to prevent infection. And while some hospitals use prosthetics that are merely "acceptable," Dr. Zimet uses only first-quality prosthetics that last longer and are more precise. Steps such as these help to ensure you receive the best care possible, whatever your orthopaedic situation:
Arthritis management & joint replacement
Dr. Zimet uses nonsurgical methods first in treating arthritis, such as medication and gentle injections of lubricant. If several factors are present, such as unbearable pain, restricted range of motion or joint instability, joint replacement surgery may be right for you. This surgery is appropriate for those with severe osteoarthritis or inflammatory arthritis and whose problems have not responded to nonsurgical methods.
Before a joint is replaced, Dr. Zimet conducts in-depth testing and advises you on preparing for surgery. The goal with joint replacement is to provide pain relief, improved joint motion and stability. This surgery is available for the hip, knee and shoulder.
Dr. Zimet uses only leading-edge reconstructive procedures for athletic injuries to the knee, shoulder, ligaments and tendons:
Knee injuries - Arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction.
Ligaments and tendons - Minimally invasive arthroscopic reconstructive procedures.
Rotator cuff - A mini open surgery is used to treat rotator cuff injury.
Mini open surgery is minimally invasive, dependable and allows for quicker rehabilitaion.
Carpal tunnel syndrome
For a repetitive-stress injury such as carpal tunnel syndrome, Dr. Zimet uses mini open carpal tunnel release. By releasing the carpal ligament, the compressed median nerve is freed to heal. This minimally invasive surgery takes less than 20 minutes to perform.
Trauma - hip fractures, automobile & motorcycle accidents
Traumatic situations require a surgeon with Dr. Zimet's expertise and experience. He is highly skilled at orthopaedic trama and urgent surgery to repair broken bones, torn ligaments and tendons.
Ankle & foot, including bunions & hammertoes
Dr. Zimet has performed hundreds of surgical procedures to the ankle to correct injuries to the bones and tendons and hundreds of procedures on the foot to correct bunions and hammer-toes.
In-office X-ray & bone density testing
Because patients in pain should not have to walk from room to room for an initial exam and X-rays, Dr. Zimet has located his X-ray station conveniently in the exam room. He also performs in-office bone density testing for patients with osteoporosis, kidney problems and long-term steroid use.
When body movement is interrupted by arthritis or injury, life as you know it changes. Daniel L. Zimet, MD, understands this and is dedicated to helping you move as normally as possible again. So you can stroll through the park at your own pace, play ball with friends or simply move through your day with ease.

Testimonials to Dr. Zimet
"It is the first anniversary of my rotator cuff surgery. What better way to celebrate than to write and say 'thank you'."
"I followed your advice about keeping up the physical therapy, some of which I still do. I am back to swimming most strokes and have full use of my arm and shoulder."
"It feels great and the little scar is hardly noticeable. Sincere thanks to you for giving me back a normal life. I'd gladly recommend your services and skills to anyone!" - C.H.
"Dr. Zimet replaced the joints in both of my knees, and because of this I was able to walk on the Great Wall of China! I also visited my son, who lives in Alaska's back country - there isn't a paved road in sight! But that didn't stop me from walking, thanks to my new knees."
"And when I needed my hip replaced, Dr. Zimet was by my side. If it weren't for him, I'd be sitting in a rocking chair and would never have been able to do the things I've done." - Female patient, aged 78
