We just received the latest shipment of Brompton folding bikes. Come in an test ride one of several models in stock.

Bromptons in stock
Come in and check out several new Brompton folding bikes. These easy folding, compact bikes have been very popular. They are designed and hand-built in London, England to the highest quality standards. Come in and take a test ride and see for yourself.
We've posted an update on our current inventory on the bikes@vienna blog. For more information check out their excellent online brochure. You can also use the Bike Explorer which "is designed to take you through all the options you can select on a bike." You can also get an idea of the cost in U.S. dollars of the bike with various options by using the B-Spoke order from with U.S. MSRP. It is much more accurate than trying to use the UK form on the Brompton site as it does not include tariffs and other costs.
bikes@vienna on Facebook
If you're a Facebook user then bikes@vienna would like you to become a "fan". bikes@vienna now has a facebook page. You can communicate with other fans and keep up with our diverse activities in the community and the area.
Basic Bicycle Maintenance and Repair
Tim Fricker, bikes@vienna's lead mechanic, teaches a 2 hour class in basic bike maintenance and repair, usually on the first Sunday of the month (unless it's a holiday, then it's the next Sunday). Topics covered include flat repair, brake and gear adjustments, basic lubrication, and performing a safety check on your bicycle. See our events page for more information about the class.
bikes@vienna Wins 2009 Sam Braxton Bicycle Shop Award
We are honored to be selected by Adventure Cycling Association as the 2009 Sam Braxton Bicycle Shop Award winner. Our long standing admiration for Adventure Cycling and their work to inspire people to ride makes this even more meaningful. Thank you to Bruce Alton for his convincing nomination. It is beautiful in Northern Virginia today and a bit sweeter. Read the Adventure Cycling press release.
Mezzo folding bikes at bikes@vienna

We are now stocking Mezzo folding bikes. Developed in the UK, and distributed by Marin Bikes USA, the Mezzo achieves a new level of performance and practicality with unrivalled handling for its compact size. It has a rigid frame, anodized finish and comes with fenders and a rack. See for yourself in this YouTube video on folding and unfolding the Mezzo. Why not come in for a test ride?
Dahon Stem Recall and Replacement
Dahon is recalling stems on a number of their 16" and 20" wheel models from 2008. We received a supply of replacement stems today. We will begin contacting customers to bring in their bikes and allow us to replace the stem. There is no monetary charge to the customer. It is an inconvenience and for that we apologize on behalf of Dahon.
For more information see the bikes@vienna blog and the Dahon recall flier.

Our most popular family tandem has been the KidzTandem by Brown Cycles. The child is seated in the forward position and the adult controls the bike from the rear. Conversations are much easier making for a more fun ride. The adult can easily watch the child seated in front. Options for the front seat include a regular saddle for older kids and a child seat for toddlers.
Rans Crank Forward Bikes
Crank-forward bicycles are becoming very popular. They are a cross between recumbent and hybrid bicycles. They are comfortable, with the rider sitting in an upright position on a wide seat. When stopped it's possible to have both feet flat on the ground. The Rans Fusion is the most popular crank-forward bike here at bikes@vienna. It sells for $1025. In 2007 there was only one bike store in America that sold more crank forward bikes than bikes@vienna.

We now carry the Trice line of tadpole trikes. The trikes have been produced since 1986 and are now owned by Inspired Cycle Engineering (ICE), an English company. The trikes are hand-built in England with hand-built wheels and custom-made spokes. The Trice Q has rear suspension and folds. Come in and see for yourself by taking one for a test ride.

We sell and repair single bikes, tandems, recumbents, trailers, and trail-a-bikes. We want people to use a bike to have fun, to exercise for good health, to save money, and to protect the environment. Our bike shop offers high-quality cycling products and service, but what we really promote are values.

The store is, in fact, about midway between Church Street and Maple Avenue (Route 123), and is accessible from a broad, unnamed alley that runs between those two streets. Coming from Maple Avenue (Route 123), look for Mattress Discounters and Floors USA; between them is our alley. Coming from Church Street, look for Terra Christa; by it is our alley. From farther afield, you can take the Beltway to I-66 to Exit 62, Nutley Street (Route 243). You then follow Nutley Street north, passing three stoplights and turning right at the fourth light, onto Maple Avenue (Route 123). A few blocks further, after the next stoplight, Mattress Discounters is your cue to turn left into our alley.
Our store is near mile 11.8 on the W&OD Trail. At Church Street, turn south. Cross Center Street and, on that next block, look to the left for the store tucked away in an alley.

Friendly people, humor, prompt service, great products, deep knowledge, individual attention, family/kid orientation, independent and local (Vienna) ownership, Adams Trail-a-Bike, Bacchetta, Barcroft, Bike Friday (BikeFriday), Breezer, Burley, Dahon, Easy Racers, Gary Fisher (not quite Gary Fischer), Greenspeed, Haluzak, J&B, Longbikes, Marin, Optima, Pashley, QBP (Quality Bicycle Products), Rans, TerraTrike (not quite Terra Trike), Thule, WizWheelz (not quite Whiz Wheels).

bikes@vienna has since 1998 proudly served Vienna, VA; Oakton, VA; McLean, VA; Fairfax, VA; Reston, VA; Herndon, VA; the rest of Fairfax County, VA; Falls Church, VA; Arlington, VA; Alexandria, VA; Washington, DC; Loudon County, VA; Prince William County, VA; and parts of suburban Maryland. In fact, we’ve earned ourselves happy customers from as far away as North Carolina, Ohio, and England. So don’t be a stranger. We’d love to see you down at the store. *
