December 3rd Advent Retreat

This year, our annual Advent retreat will be held at the Dominican Retreat House in McLean on Friday,December 3rd from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The retreat will focus on Experiencing Gods Presence Through Music, Art and Prayer and will be led by Mary Morreale, our Director of Music Ministries. Mary has a rich background of leading retreats for other parishes in the area in addition to the recent meditative sessions shes led here at Holy Cross.Our Advent retreat, which is sponsored by the parishs Stephen Ministers, will include time for group and individual meditative sessions, a hot lunch, and Holy Eucharist led by our Rector, the Rev. Wes Smedley, in the Retreat House chapel.
Located just 10 minutes from the parish, the Dominican Retreat House is situated on 12 landscaped acres with walking path sand ample parking. In addition to breakout rooms and buffet-style dining areas, well experience the prayerful and meditative ambience of a large meeting room with skylights and windows overlooking a natural setting and the comforting warmth of our own fireplace.

This new group for those over 50 meets about once a month, usually on Thursdays, for fellowship and activities. Please join us for the following upcoming events:

On November 19 at 6:30 p.m., we will have a casual potluck dinner and viewing of a classic family movie (suggestions are welcome). Families of all shapes and sizes are encouraged to join the fun. Bring something to share, if you are able.

Join us on November 28 at 5:00 p.m. for a potluck and Advent Wreathmaking party. Wreath forms candles, and greens will be provided. Bring along shears and gloves if you are able, and join in this fun event to mark the beginning of Advent.

Theology on Tap is a place where the 20s/30s, GenXer crowd can gather, share the trivial and the profound, and begin to enter the mystery and reality of God. It is one of those non-churchy ministries (a ministry happening outside the walls of the church) that proves God can be present anywhereeven in a pub! Join us on November 16th this month at Irelands Four Provinces in Falls Church at 7 p.m.
