A native of New Zealand, born in 1964, son of diplomatic nomadic Parents traveled and trained independently around the world as a chef until 1998. Resident of Northern Virginia since 1994, currently residing in Upperville, Virginia as a full time, professional artist.

Lillian DeClarence August
Lillian DeClarence August was born in 1927 and raised on a farm in the Tidewater area of Virginia. She has been actively involved in artistic pursuits most of her life. She started painting with oils when she was eleven years old. Lillian graduated from Madison College in Virginia with a degree in education and a major in art. In the late 1940's she moved to the Washington, D. C. area where she became an art teacher in Arlington County. She married, raised four children and for a number of years continued to teach in Fairfax County schools. From the 1960's through the present she has sold oil paintings all over the world.

Ren started on this path as a young child in the 1960's with his father who was an avid art lover. Ren was exposed to artists in the San Francisco Bay Area by his father who would take him to studios to watch the masters of that day creating beautiful works of art. We can say that the senior Mr. Dickerson had a dream for his son because he named him after surrealist Ren Magritte.

Born and raised in South Africa, wildlife artist Grant Hacking, moved to the United States in 1990. He now resides in the White Mountains of New Hampshire with his wife and two daughters. Both of Hackings parents are artists. "I never assumed I would be a professional artist," he said in a Wildlife Art magazine interview. "In fact, my father discouraged it."

Since first picking up a brush as a child, Sue Kelleher has had an unconditional and deep resolve to create strong images of beauty, grace and life. Painting in oil since childhood, she has mastered the medium to create splendid Landscapes, equine and hunt scenes. Sue was born and raised in Los Angeles. She moved to the East Coast with her husband in 1980. Her training includes studying with professional artists and attending classes in various colleges around the country. She is also a highly regarded oil painting instructor. I am simply enchanted with life and beauty and I try to capture it. I visualize my paintings as if they were alive. This decree is clear in Sues equestrian hunt series completed after her invitation to watch the Hunts of Northern Virginia. Horses are Sues main interest along with Victorian garden scenes and Landscapes.

Bill is a landscape painter whose style reflects his admiration for the French Impressionists Monet, Sisley, and Pissarro and early 20th century American Impressionists. Like these plein air painters, Bill works outdoors in all seasons on a variety of topics: countrysides and panoramas, street scenes, gardens, and especially marines. He believes that doing the painting on site can best capture the vibrancy and effects of color, light, and shadow in a scene. Most of his marine paintings depict scenes in Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay area where he paints weekly. He also makes annual or semiannual trips to New England and California and paints wherever his travels take him. Bill began painting as a hobby more than 30 years ago, but landscape painting became his full-time profession in 1984.

Catherine Thomas was born in Washington, D. C. in 1953 to Frank and Lillian August. From an early age, Catherine was exposed to fine art by her mother, Lillian DeClarence August, who was an art teacher and accomplished artist. Catherine learned about the color wheel, perspective and other aspects of drawing and painting as her mother prepared lesson plans for her students. When Catherine came home from school, she would sit next to her mom as she painted at her easel. Her mother instilled in her a love of art and also a confidence in her own ability to express herself. Sundays were spent at the National Gallery of Art and the Phillips Gallery in Washington, D. C. At the age of 19, Catherine went to Europe with her mother and visited galleries and museums in London and Paris. Catherine attended college briefly at James Madison University in Virginia as an art student. She worked and then married and had six children. Now that the children are nearly grown she is enjoying the rediscovery of her artistic heritage.
